This week’s Perspective Letter is about how our understanding of ourselves can change with time, experience, and growth. As we move through life, we often begin to recognize things about ourselves that we may not have understood before—our boundaries, what drains us, what motivates us, what we need from relationships, and the environments where we feel most like ourselves.
Sometimes growth isn’t about becoming someone completely different. It can also mean becoming more comfortable with who we already are. Self-awareness can come from recognizing patterns, learning from mistakes, and giving ourselves more compassion for the parts of us we once judged.
For me, one thing I understand better now is that I need peace, balance, and intention in my life. I’ve learned that constantly pushing myself doesn’t always mean I’m progressing. I need boundaries, time to think, and relationships where I feel respected and understood. I also understand strength differently now. Strength isn’t always about carrying everything alone. Sometimes it looks like resting, saying no, walking away, asking for help, or admitting that something matters to you. The older I get, the more I realize that understanding yourself isn’t about reaching a final version of who you are…We’re always becoming!
This Week’s Perspective Question:
What is something about yourself you understand better now than you used to? Maybe it’s your personality, your boundaries, your needs, your strengths, your values, or even the way you love and connect with other people.
Take a moment to reflect, then share your perspective in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you, and happy Sunday!
