Hey yall, this week’s Perspective Letter focused on how our perspective can either create peace or pressure. Sometimes the situation itself isn’t the heaviest part, it’s the way we’re thinking about it. The thoughts we repeat can add stress, make us feel behind, or convince us that everything is going wrong. But a small shift in perspective can create room to breathe.
Instead of thinking, “I should have figured this out by now,” we can remind ourselves, “I’m still learning.” Instead of assuming everything is going wrong, we can pause and ask, “What is still going right?” A change in perspective doesn’t erase the problem, but it can keep the problem from taking up more space than it deserves.
For me, peace comes when I stop expecting myself to have every answer or control every outcome. I’m learning to focus more on what I can control: my response, my effort, my boundaries, and the way I choose to think about what’s happening. That doesn’t mean I never worry or get frustrated. It simply means I’m learning not to let one hard moment convince me that everything is hard. Sometimes the healthiest reminder is: “This is hard, but I will figure it out.”
